GPS, insurance, and card-on-file consent (reference copy)

This is a reference copy of the consent renters acknowledge as part of every booking on a Rentavoq-powered storefront. We publish it because we would rather show you the tracking and verification up front than surprise you at pickup. The binding version — with your operator's name, your vehicle, and your booking amounts filled in — is presented in your operator's storefront at checkout, and that version governs.

Who the consent is between

The consent runs between you (the renter) and your rental operator. For peer-to-peer bookings where the vehicle owner is not the operator, the owner is named as a party for data sharing under Section 1. Rentavoq is the software platform, acting as the operator's service provider.

1. Consent to GPS and telematics tracking

You acknowledge that the vehicle is equipped with a Bouncie telematics/GPS device and that, during and in connection with your rental, the operator (and Rentavoq as its service provider) will collect, transmit, and store the following data continuously, including in real time:

precise GPS location, route history, and geofence entries and exits;
speed, harsh-braking and acceleration, and other driving-event data;
odometer and mileage, trip start and stop, ignition on and off;
fuel level or EV charge, battery, and vehicle diagnostic data;
device tamper and disconnect events.

Purposes you consent to: fleet operations and dispatch; mileage and fuel reconciliation and related billing; safety and prohibited-use monitoring; location and recovery of overdue, stolen, or prohibited-use vehicles; accident and claims investigation; and service improvement.

You agree not to disable, remove, obstruct, or tamper with the telematics device. Doing so is a material breach of the rental agreement and may void protection or coverage and trigger recovery.

Retention and sharing: for peer-to-peer bookings, telematics records are retained for at least two years under Indiana's vehicle-sharing law (Indiana Code 24-4-9.2-17); otherwise per the operator's stated retention period. Data may be shared with the vehicle owner (peer-to-peer bookings), insurers and claims adjusters, tolling and citation authorities, law enforcement (with lawful process or in emergencies), and service providers under confidentiality.

2. Consent to identity and driver's-license verification

You consent to identity and driver-eligibility verification through the operator's verification provider (Stripe Identity or Persona), including submitting a government-issued ID or driver's license and a selfie for biometric facial comparison confirming the ID belongs to you, and to checks of driver's-license status and eligibility. You authorize the operator and its verification providers to collect, verify, and store this information to determine your eligibility to rent and drive the vehicle.

3. Consent to insurance verification

You consent to verification of your automobile insurance through the operator's verification provider (Canopy Connect), including authorizing the provider to access your insurance-carrier account and share with the operator your policy status, named insureds, coverage types, coverage limits, effective and expiration dates, and declarations page.

You represent that the insurance information you provide is true and that you will maintain the coverage your rental agreement requires — in Indiana, at least the 25/50/25 liability floor (Indiana Code 9-25-4-5), or higher where your operator requires it — throughout the rental period. The operator may decline or end the rental if coverage cannot be verified, is insufficient, or lapses.

4. Card-on-file authorization — deposits, holds, and post-rental charges

You authorize the operator (via Stripe) to store your payment card and to place holds and pre-authorizations on it, and to charge it for amounts you owe under the rental agreement, including after the vehicle is returned, for:

the security deposit hold stated at checkout, and its release less permitted deductions;
rental charges, mileage overage, fuel or refueling, and cleaning fees;
tolls, congestion charges, parking violations, and traffic or camera citations from the rental period, plus the per-event administrative fee stated at checkout;
damage, loss, diminished value, loss of use, and claim-handling amounts determined under the operator's damage and claims policy, up to your stated responsibility limit or applicable deductible;
late-return and recovery fees.

This authorization is ongoing and survives the return of the vehicle until all amounts are settled. You will receive an itemized statement for any post-rental charge and may dispute it through the damage and claims dispute process.

5. Acknowledgment and electronic signature

The consent is given electronically under the electronic signature and records consent (ESIGN / Indiana UETA, Indiana Code 26-2-8) and is incorporated into the rental agreement for your booking. Your signature is captured with the signer's name, timestamp, IP address, and device details.
